Osun 2022: Adeleke’s ex-running mate, PDP factional chair, others defect to APC

Albert Adeogun, running mate to Senator Ademola Adeleke in the 2018 Osun State governorship election and the factional state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state, Wale Ojo, on Tuesday, led other defectors to the All Progressives Congress.

Also among the defectors were; Mr. Ayodele Asalu, a House of Representatives aspirant in Ede Federal Constituency on the platform of PDP and Soji Ibikunle.

APC National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore while receiving the defectors during a rally held at Nelson Mandela Freedom Park, Osogbo commended them for taking the right decision to join the party.

He said, “We have received you wholeheartedly and welcomed you into an atmosphere of equality and justice.

“We invite you to join hands with us and let us work together for the development of our beloved Osun and our nation.”

Addressing the rally, the state governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, lauded the new members for taking a decisive step to enhance their political stature, saying that APC is known for fair play.

“I congratulate our friends and brothers who have made a critical decision for their political careers and fortunes. You have come at the right time and you have nothing to fear.

“You are already members, there will be no discrimination whatsoever. Senator Omisore is a testimony that our party values people of substance and gives a fair chance to all,” Oyetola said.

Ojo, who spoke on behalf of the defectors, attributed their decision to the need to align with a symbol of excellence and progress in Governor Oyetola.
