Kola Ologbondiyan

Former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Kola Olagbondiyan has revealed how the health of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State suffered a deadly blow during one of the defection saga that rocked the party

The former PDP image maker made the revelation during an interview on Arise TV on Friday morning,

Reacting to an crisis rocking the main opposition political party, Olagbondiyan recounted how Wike almost suffered a heart attack when former Speaker of the House of the Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, left the party.

He described Governor Wike as a party man, who is not considering dumping the PDP following the outcome of the party’s national convention in May.

“I always tell people about this. When the former Speaker, Honourable Yakubu Dogara left the Peoples Democratic Party, Governor Wike nearly suffered heart-attack. That is love, that is passion for your political party,” he said.

“People who are saying that Governor Wike will leave the party I do not believe they have the understanding of Governor Wike.

“Governor Wike declared that notwithstanding whosoever emerges as the candidate, he remains a party man. But you cannot see a man who has a complain and you say he shouldn’t complain.

“He has the rights. If he believes as a member of the party and a pillar of the party that he is, if he believes that things have not been done well [he should be listened to].”

There have been speculations that Wike may dump the PDP after losing the party’s vice president slot to his Delta state counterpart, Ifeanyi Okowa, despite being recommended by the party’s panel for the position.
