The South African Bayana Bayana defeated the Super Falcons of Nigeria 1-2 in the ongoing Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

The two teams in group C represent two of the most dominant forces in women’s football in Africa, so the game was expected to be a blast.

The game was also anticipated to be a retaliation for the Falcons’ 2-4 loss to South Africa in the 2021 Aisha Buhari Cup final in Nigeria.

The first half of the match played in Rabat, Morocco on Monday was goalless.

The South Africans took the lead on 60 minutes through Jermaine Seoposenwe.

Two minutes later, Bayana Bayana doubled their lead. The goal was scored by Hildah Magaia .

On 65 minutes, Nigeria’s Rasheedat Ajibade came close to scoring but her effort was easily gathered by keeper Dlamini.

The Nigerian side pulled one back on two minutes of added time through Ajibade. She was assisted by Ebi Onome.
