On Wednesday, three suspects were remanded following their convictions on three counts of conspiracy, theft, and attempted trafficking of Baba Musa, a 5-year-old child.

The suspects are Chima Kanu, Blessing Chima, and Kelvin Blessing.

The suspects are accused of conspiring to steal and traffic the 5-year-old minor from the custody of the mother on July 11, 2022, at Ibadan Water Front in Port Harcourt Township, according to the charges read aloud in court.

When the charges were read, Blessing Kelvin, the first defendant, entered a plea of guilty. Blessing Chima, the second defendant, and Chima Kanu, the third defendant, respectively, entered pleas of not guilty to the charges.

Their counsel subsequently applied for their bail, which was opposed by the prosecutor.

Chief Magistrate, Rita Ogugua after listening to the argument, adjourned to August 4, 2022 for facts and sentencing of the 1st defendant who has pleaded guilty.

The trial of the 2nd and 3rd defendants is also expected to begin on the same adjourned date.
