Social media influencer Amanda Chisom arrested over alleged Chinmark N50bn Ponzi scheme

Amanda Chisom, a social media influencer, has been reportedly arrested in Abuja for her involvement in Chinmark, a company that is said to be involved in a Ponzi scheme.

Earlier in March, it was reported that many investors took to social media to attack Chinmark Group CEO and Chairman Marksman Ijiomah over unpaid funds invested in the company despite numerous deadlines for refund.

The brand ambassadors Chisom and Harrison Gwamnishu received criticism from the investors as well.

The company is linked to a N50 billion Ponzi scheme.

A video of Chisom arriving at the FCID office in Abuja on July 19 was uploaded to social media by an attorney named Chukwudi Iwuchukwu.

The police allegedly obtained a court order for her detention, according to Mr. Iwuchukwu.

Iwuchukwu wrote, “Chisom was actually picked up on Tuesday morning, July 19, from her residence by a team of crack detectives, after her arrival from her foreign vacation trip.

“It is possible that she would be detained for a long time based on court order procured by the victims of the Chinmark’s heist that she was part of.

“Chisom has been singing like a canary bird about what she knows about the N50 billion stolen by Chinmark, and herself, from innocent retail investors.

“She would be charged to court after the conclusion of the investigation by the crack team of detectives currently interrogating her.”

As of press time, the police had yet to release a statement on her arrest.
