Akpeyi ready for new challenge after leaving Kaizer Chiefs

Daniel Akpeyi, a Nigerian goalkeeper, is eager to get his career back on track after leaving South African Premier League club Kaizer Chiefs.

Following the expiration of his contract, Akpeyi was let go by the Amakhosi last month.

Since December 2021, the goalie has not made an official appearance for the Glamour Boys. He will turn 36 next week.

He made 69 appearances for the club following his arrival from another South African outfit, Chippa United in 2019.

The former Warri Wolves shot stopper has been linked with the likes of Orlando Pirates, Sekhukhune United and AmaZulu since leaving Kaizer Chiefs.

“For now, I’m just preparing myself by going through my own pre-season, while waiting for the right time to sign,” he told KickOff.

“In preparing myself, I’m keeping fit by training with one of the top goalkeeper trainers.

“It is a matter of accepting the right offer from what I have available from both South Africa and outside,” he said.
