Bandits kidnap Polytechnic worker’s wife, 3 kids in Kaduna

The wife of a staff member of Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic and the couple’s three children have been kidnapped by bandits in Shika village, Giwa Local government area of Kaduna State and

According to Daily Trust, a vigilante source said the suspected bandits invaded the village at about 11pm and went to the house of their target without any shooting.

He said immediately after the attack, men of the vigilance group in the neighbouring villages were alerted and they blocked all the exit points.

The source said, “We blocked the exit of Karau Karau and Sako villages and later engaged the bandits in a gun duel, as they started firing at us.

“We however succeeded in overpowering them and forced them to retreat and ran into the bush. While escaping, the bandit abandoned one of the captives, a young girl.”

The council chairman, Giwa Local Government Area, Zubairu Alhassan Zico, who confirmed the attack said he had received “a report of the attackers who invaded the resident of one Mallam Isa Umar who works in the Estate Department, Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnics Zaria and kidnapped four members of his family at about 11pm.”

While applauding the giant effort of the vigilante members, he promised that the council would enhance security surveillance in the area to rescue the victims.

He said security agents had been combing bushes to search for the victims.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Jalinge, could not be reached to comment on the incident as at the time of filling this report.
