Kuje jailbreak: Killed NSCDC officer’s family get cash, employment

The family of Inspector Ilyasu Abraham, who was killed during the Kuje jailbreak, has received money from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

Olusola Odumosu, Deputy Commandant of Corps and spokesperson for the NSCDC, released a statement on Thursday.

On July 5, terrorists attacked the Kuje Medium Custodial Center in Abuja, and Abraham perished as a result.

The wife and daughter received a N2.5 million check and N300,000 in cash from NSCDC Commandant General (CG) Ahmed Audi.

Abimiku Abraham, the daughter, would be hired during the upcoming hiring process, according to an announcement from Audi.

The CG comforted the grieving family by saying that the deceased would be remembered as a hero who passed away while serving his country.

Audi said the money was in fulfillment of his promise to ensure that necessary compensation is given to the family in due time.

“It is also an intervention from the Federal Government and the Corps to assist the family and to cater for some burial expenses,” he said.

The CG charged officers, heads of zonal and State commands to work with sister agencies to develop new strategies to tackle Nigeria’s security challenges.
