Police: Driving a person’s car without authorization is an offense liable to fine or imprisonment

A police officer identified as Aliyu Giwa has notified Nigerians that there is a punishment for driving a persons’ car without authorization.

This was made known by Giwa in a Twitter thread.

Giwa stated that according to the Road Traffic act, driving a person’s car without authorization is an offense liable to a fine or imprisonment for 6months.

Giwa also cited section 33 of the Road traffic act;

A person who drives a motor vehicle on an occasion when he is not expressly or impliedly authorized by the owner of the vehicle is guilty of an offence and liable on conviction to a fine or to imprisonment for six months or both such fine and imprisonment.
