2023: Peter Obi meets ex-gov Mimiko in Akure

Olusegun Mimiko, the former governor of Ondo State, and Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party, met behind closed doors on Thursday in Akure.

Mimiko confirmed the pair’s meeting on his official Twitter account.

On the microblogging website, he also posted pictures from the meeting with the caption: “Pleased to receive my brother, H.E. #PeterObi this morning.”

The meeting’s topics of discussion included the leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Obi has started holding meetings all over Nigeria in an effort to garner support for his bid for the presidency in 2023.

The ex-Anambra State governor’s emergence has made next year’s election the most complicated and unpredictable in the history of the country with Nigerians who have long clamoured for a change in the status quo queuing behind the gap-toothed graduate of philosophy.

The other two major contenders – Asiwaju Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the PDP flag bearer, Atiku Abubakar, have also embarked on a series of consultations ahead of the election.
