A truck crushed a yet-to-be-identified motorcyclist to death at Ahmadiya, Iganmode Road, Ota in Ogun State.
The spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, Babatunde Akinbiyi, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Thursday in Abeokuta, the state capital said the incident occurred around 8.20am.
Akinbiyi disclosed that the accident was caused by the motorcyclist, who was speeding.
He said, “According to an eyewitness, the motorcyclist, due to reckless and dangerous riding, lost control and hit a stationary bus by the roadside, then fell off the motorcycle and rolled under a moving containerised truck, which rolled over him.”
The TRACE spokesman said three people were involved in the accident, adding that the family of the deceased had claimed his body with the permission of the police.
He admonished motorcyclists to exercise caution and ride responsibly.
