UEFA Conference League: Chukwueze, Olayinka nominated for Goal of the Week

Chukwueze, Olayinka

Samuel Chukwueze and Peter Olayinka, two players from Nigeria, have been nominated for the UEFA Europa Conference League Goal of the Week.

Chukwueze contributed an assist and one goal as Villarreal defeated Lech Poznan, a Polish team, 4-3 on Thursday night at the Estadio de la Ceramica.

In the 32nd minute, the 23-year-old equalized the score for the Yellow Submarine, erasing Michal Skoras’s opening goal.

The winger assisted in Villarreal’s third goal, which was scored by Alex Baena, who captained the team that evening.

Olayinka netted Slavia Prague’s only goal in the 1-1 draw at Sivasspor.

The striker, who was part of Nigeria’s squad to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, won the ball in the Sivasspor half and rushed towards goal before firing under the crossbar from a tight angle.

Istanbul Basaksehir’s Hassan Ali Kaldirim and Wouter Burger of Basel are the two other players nominated for the award.
