Store owner killed in Ilorin, two children abducted

A store owner was reportedly killed by unidentified gunmen at the Oja Tuntun market in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State.

Mr. Aribidesi, the victim, is said to have been attacked at his home in the Alubarika, Gaa-Osibi, and Alagbado neighbourhoods of the Ilorin metropolis.

According to reports, the incident occurred on Thursday night, September, when the victim was attacked with a machete by his assailants, who also kidnapped two of his children.

A neighbour of the deceased who requested anonymity said the attackers also went away with the deceased’s mobile phone and had since reportedly contacted his family to demand for N10million naira as ransom to free the kidnapped children.

Nobody knew how they managed to enter the building or how they managed to scale the house’s fence.

“But we learned that they killed him and took his two children away. He died from cutlass wounds,” the source disclosed.

“People have continued to visit his residence to condole his wife. It was nothing but an unfortunate incident’ one of the residents of Gaa-osibi” source said.

When contacted, spokesman for the Nigeria Police Force in Kwara state, SP Okasanmi Ajayi, told newsmen that no one had reported the incident to the police as of Friday night.

He, however, said being a people-friendly police force, efforts would be made to find out what had actually happened.

Okasanmi, urged residents and citizens of the state to ensure that they promptly report any threat to the security of lives and property to the police in order to take necessary action.
