Terror Alert: Buhari Postpones NASENI Complex Commissioning, Summons Emergency Security Meeting

Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has called an urgent security meeting for Monday in order to further ease the tension caused by the recent alarm raised by the United States (US) and United Kingdom (UK) in their travel advise.

Recent travel advisories from the US and the UK, which unequivocally warned of terror risks in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), caused fear in the capital and forced companies and other activities to cease operations.

However, Buhari summoned an emergency security meeting for Monday morning, postponing earlier planned national activities, according to a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu.

The President had been scheduled to commission an infrastructure built by the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) on Monday morning. The event was put off for a new date.

“President Muhammadu Buhari will on Monday meet with security chiefs in the nation’s capital, Abuja, to further review and strengthen security network in the country.

“The President, who was initially scheduled to commission the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) new Technology and Innovation Complex, will receive briefs from the security chiefs, and interject on areas that need more attention.

“The commissioning of the NASENI complex will hold on a later date,” the statement reads.
