Truck assistant dies in Lagos lone road crash

A yet-to-be-identified truck assistant has lost his life in a lone road accident at Alakara, in the Mushin area of the Lagos State.

The Permanent Secretary, The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, who disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, said the agency got a distress call around 2am and responded to that call.

Oke-Osanyintolu said, “Earlier today Wednesday November 23, 2023, recovered one dead adult male and an empty oil tanker involved in a lone road accident in the Mushin area of Lagos.

“The timely recovery operation was in response to the distress call received by the agency at 2.16am followed by a swift arrival at 02.25am at Alakara, Mushin bus stop.

“The prompt response of the agency forestalled fire outbreaks and other secondary incidents at the accident scene, with swift recovery of the yet-to-be-identified truck assistant that lost his life in the accident.

“Further information gathered at the scene revealed that the immediate cause of the incident was due to reckless driving.

“The tanker has been successfully recovered off the road to avert secondary incidents and handed over to Officers of the Nigerian Police Force from Alakara Police Station.

“The bagged commodity, remains of the truck assistant, was also handed over to the police officers at the incident scene for further processing.”
