2023: SDP Speaks On Its Presidential Candidate Stepping Down For Tinubu, Atiku

Adewole Adebayo

The Presidential Campaign Council of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has denied reports that its presidential candidate, Adewole Adebayo, intends to withdraw from the 2023 election.

The council’s Director-General, Solomon Dalung, stated at a news conference in Abuja on Saturday that Adebayo is not stepping down for any presidential candidate.

The SDP also expressed concern about alleged plans to arrest Adebayo on fabricated charges.

Former Youth and Sports Minister claimed that state agents are recruiting people to fabricate false allegations against its presidential candidate.

The plan, according to Dalung, is to embarrass Adebayo ahead of the presidential election in 2023.

Dalung told reporters that Adebayo considering quitting the presidential race would be treasonous because he is in it to win it.

The former minister cautioned the All Progressives Congress (APC) against using national assets for party rallies and campaigns, or for promoting its candidates across the country.

He urged President Buhari to keep his promise to hold free and fair elections in 2023.

Dalung urged Nigerians to vote for the SDP presidential candidate, whom he believes has practical solutions to the country’s problems.

He said;

Our candidate (Adebayo) has practical solutions to challenges confronting Nigeria and is already engaging Nigerians with practical solutions to problems of poverty, unemployment, insecurity and others.

The SDP is not worried by rented crowd turning to violence. Our method of engagement fundamentally differs from what is being employed by others. We have gotten considerable approval from Nigerians who believe in our presidential candidate and his practical solutions to the problems of Nigeria.

Nigerians should not vote for any president based on sentiments, whether on religion or ethnicity. We should elect a president that has practical solutions to our problems.
