I never meant to hurt You, student critic apologises to Aisha Buhari

Aminu Mohammed, a final-year student of the Federal University, Dutse, has apologised to the First Lady, Aisha Buhari, for “hurting” her over his feeding ‘fat’ on poor people’s money post on Twitter.

WITHIN NIGERIA had reported that Aminu was arrested over a post he made on his Twitter page in Hausa, where he allegedly said Aisha Buhari , “Mama is feeding fat on poor people’s money.”

The 500-level student was subsequently arraigned before the FCT High Court No. 14 and remanded in prison.

However, the First Lady on Friday withdrew the case against Mohammed after intense pressure.

According to her prosecution counsel, Fidelis Ogbobe, the withdrawal followed the intervention of well-meaning Nigerians.

Reacting in a tweet after he was released, Aminu said he had no intention of hurting Mrs. Buhari’s feelings.

”I would like to use this medium to express my sincere apologies to those I’ve hurt, especially our mother, Aisha Buhari. It was never my intention to hurt your feelings and insha Allah I will change for the better. However, I’m also grateful for your forgiveness, thank you mama,” he tweeted.

That was Mohammed’s first tweet after two weeks in detention. His arrest had triggered a nationwide outrage.
