JUST-IN: Fire Guts Balogun Market In Lagos, Destroys Multi-million Naira Goods

A fire has destroyed a structure in Lagos State’s famed Balogun market.

Only three months ago, it was reported that a fire broke out in the Balogun market, destroying various items worth millions of dollars.

On Thursday morning, a fire broke out in one of the renowned market structures.

As of the time of filing this report, the cause of the fire could not be determined.

The Lagos State Emergency Agency and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services stated they reacted to a distress call about the fire.

A statement by the Permanent Secretary of the agency, Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, titled: ‘Situation report on the fire outbreak at Broad Street, Lagos Island’, he said, “The agency responded to distress calls concerning the fire incident involving some shops on the ground floor of a three-story building.

“The cause of the fire cannot be ascertained as no casualty was involved,” he added.

The agency’s response team alongside two Lagos State fire service trucks, two LRU fire trucks and police are present at the incident working together to subdue the inferno.
