Dele Momodu, a Nigerian journalist and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, has claimed that Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai is playing a game with All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Bola Tinubu.
WITHIN NIGERIA reports that El-Rufai, who has previously criticized Tinubu, has suddenly begun revealing how some ‘Aso Rock Cabals’ are opposed to his presidential ambition.
In an interview with BBC Hausa, he claimed that some elements in Aso Rock were sabotaging the ruling party with the scarcity of new naira notes in order to undermine the party’s electoral victory.
The Race For 2027 Has Already Started
Dele Momodu claimed in a post on his social media page that El-Rufai is playing a game with Tinubu ahead of the 2027 election.
El-Rufai, according to him, is positioning himself as the man who championed and supported the Southern presidency in the hope that they will also support his presidential bid in 2027.
The former presidential aspirant went on to say that the Kaduna State Governor and his cohorts would assist Tinubu in spending his wealth while claiming to be doing him a favor.
He wrote:
A friend just called me from Kaduna to explain the game GOVERNOR NASIR EL RUFAI is playing which I didn’t understand at first. According to the talebearer, the race for 2027 has already started: “Governor El Rufai knows ASIWAJU BOLA AHMED TINUBU cannot defeat ATIKU ABUBAKAR and he knows APC will throw open the race.
So what he’s doing is to position himself as the man who championed and supported Southern Presidency, hoping for Southerners to support him in return. These guys are playing sophisticated games. They will help TINUBU spend his stupendous wealth and still pretend like they are doing him a favour. The game has just started… Pls, bring me some popcorn and cappuccino.
