Suspected bandit informant, food supplier arrested in Niger

A 25-year-old man identified as Ibrahim Ali aka Bajala, has been arrested by the police for allegedly being an informant and food supplier to some kidnappers in Niger State.

The state police Public Relations Officer, PRO, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, who made this known in a statement said Ibrahim was nabbed following the arrest of two suspected kidnappers with the recovery of #2.1m at Lambata, Gurara LGA on January 27.

Abiodun said the kidnappers in their confessional statement mentioned Ibrahim as their food supplier and informant. Acting on this information, the police on February 1, arrested Ibrahim in his hideout at Gwalo village.

During interrogation, he confessed to the crime and said that he usually monitors targets for kidnappers, and helps them purchase foodstuff, alcohol, and cigarettes. He was arrested with raw rice and beans, which he said he wanted to take to the kidnappers’ hideout in Gwalo forest before their arrest.

The suspect is under investigation at SCID Minna and will be arraigned in court for prosecution as soon as investigation is concluded.
