Professor Muazu Abubakar, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer for Katsina State, has declared All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Bola Tinubu the winner of the 2023 presidential election held in the state on Saturday, February 25th.
Results for the 34 Local Government Areas of the state presented to the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Gusau, at the state centre by collation officers show that Tinubu won in 21 of them, including Daura and Kafur, the two local government areas of President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Aminu Masari, respectively.
According to the results declared by Dr. Emmanuel Ojukwu, the INEC Collation Officer for Daura Local Government Area, Tinubu and the APC polled 16,889 votes to defeat the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, who polled 12,913.
Rabiu Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), received 2,368 votes in the council, while Peter Obi, the Labour Party candidate, received 78.
The total number of votes cast in the council, according to the collation officer, was 33,564. Hajiya Kahlifat Ibrahim, the collation officer for the election in Kafur Local Government Area, announced that Tinubu and the APC polled 23,517 votes to win the LGA.
According to Ojukwu, the PDP’s Atiku received 13,167 votes, while the Obi received 2,285.
She estimated that 44,485 votes were cast in the council.
Tinubu also won in Matazu, Kaita, Musawa, Ingawa, Charanchi, Dutsi, Sandamu, Dandume, Sabuwa, and Funtua, according to the presidential election results displayed at the center.
The APC presidential candidate also won in Danmusa, Rimi, Maiadua, Bindawa, Baure, Zango, Danja, Faskari, and Malumfashi.
Atiku, the PDP presidential candidate, won in Batsari, Mashi, Kurfi, Dutsinma, Batagarawa, Kusada, Mani, Kankia, Kankara, Bakori, Jibia, Katsina, and Safana.
However, Naija News learned that some political party agents, led by Ibrahim Saude, chairman of the state chapter of the Interparty Advisory Council, angrily walked out of the collation centre around 12:30.
There was a protest against the results of the Katsina Local Government Area election, which Atiku allegedly won. They claimed that the results did not accurately reflect the situation on the ground.
