Despite the issues raised by the presidential and national assembly elections, Alex Otti, the Labour Party governorship candidate in Abia State, has maintained his faith in the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).
This came as he urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to resolve any problems with the BVAS devices before the March 18 governorship elections.
WITHIN NIGERIA reports that Otti while answering questions on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, expressed optimism that BVAS is a game changer but urged INEC to work to resolve the device issue.
Remember that the electoral umpire has been repeatedly chastised for failing to transmit results to its portal during the presidential and national assembly elections on February 25.
Otti said;
Despite the discussions about BVAS and all that, I still believe BVAS is a game changer and I believe that something must have gone wrong and it has to be fixed. INEC needs to redeem its image because a lot of us were very hopeful and excited that votes would count this time.
I followed the election in Ekiti and Osun, what happened on the 25th is not a representation of what happened in Ekiti and Osun. So, my plea is that INEC should solve the problem before the election of March 18.
The Labour Party chieftain explained that if elected, he would embark on a massive infrastructure rebuilding project that would help reduce unemployment and create jobs for the people of the state.
Otti stated that Aba had lost its glory as a result of several companies leaving the state and that if given the March 18 mandate, he would restore it and improve it.
