Plateau Guber: LP’s Patrick Dakum Insists He Didn’t Step Down For PDP

Patrick Dakum, the Labour Party’s governorship candidate in Plateau, has insisted that he did not resign to make way for the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) governorship candidate, Caleb Mutfwang.

A letter purportedly from the Labour Party’s national chairman, Barrister Julius Abure, claimed that the party has endorsed Mutfwang’s candidature over Patrick Dakum’s just hours before the March 18 governorship and state house of assembly elections.

As a result, the alleged letter urged Dakum to step down for the PDP governorship candidate and join forces with him to defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Nentanwe Yilwatda Goshwe.

Patrick Dakum, on the other hand, took to his verified Twitter page on Friday, March 17, to post a video urging his supporters to disregard the letter.

He claimed that the letter had been debunked by the party’s national chairman, who called it a forgery. He also reminded supporters that the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, visited the state on Wednesday and endorsed him as the party’s governorship candidate.

WITHIN NIGERIA, it was reported that Peter Obi had visited the state to thank party supporters for voting for him in the disputed presidential election on February 25.

While in Jos, Plateau state capital, the presidential candidate took to his social media handles to write: “I have just arrived in Jos to thank the OBIdients, and urge them to come out en masse to support LP candidates.

“I use Patrick Dakum, our Governorship candidate as my point of contact in wishing the State Assembly candidates a great success on 18th March.

“We remain committed to reclaiming our stolen mandate and turning our focus to true nation-building.”
