The presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the February 25 Presidential and National Assembly elections, Peter Obi, has bemoaned the manner which the Saturday’s governorship election was conducted.

He also expressed sadness over the attacks and killings that plagued the governorship election, especially in Lagos State.

The All Progressives Congress, APC, was said to have hired and unleashed thugs on residents who were out to cast their votes across the state.

At least seventeen persons were reportedly killed in the widespread violence that marred the polls.

Reacting to the development, Obi expressed sadness over such incidents and condoled with families whose love ones were killed for coming out to exercise their civic responsibilities.

“With sadness, my heart goes deeply to the Nigerians who lost their lives and those who were maimed for participating in such a simple thing as an election,” Obi, who has gone to court to challenge the outcome of the 2023 presidential election, tweeted.

He then prayed and wished a quick recovery of those injured across Lagos State and other places.

“My sincere condolences to the families of those who lost their lives,” Obi added, calling on the Almighty to heal the broken hearts.

“I pray earnestly that God Almighty will save and help Nigeria out of this precarious situation,” he said.
