Edo poll: INEC official arrested for ‘conniving with politicians’ to manipulate ballot papers at polling unit

Political thugs have invaded the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Obingwa local government area of Abia state.

The hoodlums stormed the INEC office on Sunday afternoon.

The commission disclosed this on its Twitter handle on Sunday.

The tweet read, “Thugs have invaded our Obingwa Local Government Area office in Abia State.

“Security agencies have been alerted. The Commission is monitoring the situation and will issue a statement shortly.”

WITHIN NIGERIA recalls that INEC suspended its Resident Electoral Commissioner REC in Abia State, Ike Uzochukwu from office for ‘endangering electoral process’.

INEC has consequently directed its Administrative Secretary in the state, Clement Ohia to immediately assume the reins and ensure the smooth conduct of this Saturday’s Governorship and State Assembly election.
