The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Alex Otti of the Labour Party as the winner of Abia State governorship election.
The INEC Returning Officer for the state, Nnena Otti, made the declaration on Wednesday.
She declared Otti as winner of the poll after the result of Obingwa Local Government Area that has been the subject of controversy was released.
According to the result released at the INEC collation centre in Umuahia, Abia capital, Okey Ahaiwe of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) defeated Labour Party’s Alex Otti to polled the highest votes in the local government but Otti garnered the highest votes cast in the election across all local governments in the south eastern state.
