EPL: What I told Mudryk after he chose Chelsea over Arsenal – Zinchenko

Arsenal defender, Oleksandr Zinchenko has opened up on his conversation with Chelsea’s Mykhailo Mudryk after the latter snubbed the north London club for their rival.

Zinchenko and Mudryk are both international teammates with the Ukraine national team.

Mudryk snubbed a move to Arsenal to join Chelsea during the January transfer window.

Arsenal had appeared set to break their transfer record in an attempt to sign Mudryk, but the deal fell through after Chelsea hijacked it.

However, Zinchenko has now revealed that he told his fellow countryman that it doesn’t matter after he joined Graham Potter’s side.

Zinchenko told the Daily Mail: “I said to him: “It’s gone already, it doesn’t matter what you wanted, what the other guys wanted”.

“Now you are a Chelsea player, you signed a long-term contract, and you have only one option, only one way: direct and forward.”

He added, “Unfortunately, he didn’t become an Arsenal player – as I wanted personally! – but it’s life.”
