PDP Asks INEC To Remove Adamawa REC

2024 Budget

The dismissal of Bar Hudu Yunusa Ari, the resident electoral commissioner (REC) for the state of Adamawa, has been requested by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of that state through the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Campaign Council.

According to Mr. Filex Tangwami, deputy director-general (South) of the Adamawa PDP Campaign Council, the REC allegedly gave the returning electoral officer for the governorship election in the Fufore local government area a “order from above” to produce results that favored Senator Aishatu Ahmed Binani of the APC.

Tangwami also alleged that, the REC had forwarded additional polling units to INEC against the 69 for the rerun elections, earlier, declared inconclusive in the state

The action of the REC he stated culminated in the publishing of fake results which fooled the whole world into believing that Binani had won the election when collation had not been completed.

He urged INEC to investigate the REC and to remove him from Adamawa State “as we have lost confidence in him as an umpire because he is no longer independent.”
