Gunmen kidnap farmer in Ekiti, demand N3m ransom

Gunmen have kidnapped a farmer identified as Adewumi Babatunde on his way from his farm in Omu-Ekiti, Oye Local government of Ekiti State.

It was gathered that Babatunde was abducted yesterday afternoon between Omu and Ayede-Ekiti.

Speaking with Daily Post on the telephone, the wife of the victim, Mrs. Bosede Babatunde said the kidnappers had contacted the family and demanded for three million naira ransom.

Also, the Owajumu of Omu-Ekiti, Oba Adeyeye Ogundeyi, who lamented the incessant kidnapping of indigenes especially farmers in the area, urged the government to provide watertight security in Omu-Ijelu-Ayede Road.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Sunday Abutu, when contacted said he had not been briefed on the matter and promised to investigate.
