English Premier League side, Chelsea is reportedly planning to interview at least five potential candidates for the club’s managerial job.
This follows the dismissal of former manager Graham Potter.
WITHIN NIGERIA reports that the Blues parted ways with the Englishman last Sunday.
Former Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann, former PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino, Napoli’s Luciano Spalletti, former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique, and at least one more candidate are all in the running to become Chelsea’s new manager.
Chelsea has appointed former Brighton midfielder Bruno Saltor as a temporary replacement for Potter, with the club hierarchy reportedly willing to wait until the end of the 2022/23 season to appoint a new permanent head coach.
The coaches listed would be interviewed ahead of next season, according to the Daily Telegraph.
According to the report, Chelsea sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart, who have been tasked with overseeing the recruitment process, will interview the coaches mentioned ahead of time.
Leicester City Sacks Brendan Rodgers
Meanwhile, Brendan Rodgers, an Irish professional football coach, has been fired as manager of Leicester City.
The English Premier League club confirmed this on Sunday in a tweet, saying the club and Rodgers had reached a mutual agreement for Rodgers to leave after four years as its Men’s First Team Manager.
Leicester City has dropped to 19th in the Premier League table after a string of poor performances in recent months, according to reports in Nigeria. After 28 games, the Foxes currently have 25 points in the league.
The statement from the club on Sunday reads:
Leicester City Football Club has reached a mutual agreement with Brendan Rodgers that will see him leave the Club after four years as our Men’s First Team Manager.
Brendan departs King Power Stadium as one of the most successful managers in the Club’s history, having guided us to our long-awaited first FA Cup triumph in 2021, the FA Community Shield in the same year, two of the Club’s three highest Premier League finishes and consecutive European campaigns, including our first European semi-final in 2022.
Assistant Manager Chris Davies and First Team Fitness Coach Glen Driscoll will also be leaving with the Club’s thanks and best wishes for their future careers.
Immediate responsibility for Men’s First Team training and match preparation will be led by the Club’s long-serving First Team Coaches Adam Sadler and Mike Stowell.
