In Abuja on Friday, President Muhammadu Buhari endorsed the All Progressives Congress’ Usman Ododo as their nominee for governor of Kogi State, seven months before the election.

This came as Ododo vowed to continue the state’s current governor Yahaya Bello’s developmental achievements, which, in his view, were made possible by inclusive governance.

Ododo, who arrived at the State House with Bello, told reporters that Bello’s mentorship and his wealth of experience in the private and public financial sectors had prepared him to properly lead the confluence state.

In his statement, the APC candidate expressed confidence in his party’s ability to win the November governorship election.

After winning a direct primary on April 14, 2023, Ododo was confirmed as the Kogi APC governorship candidate by the party’s special congress the following day.

In his address, Governor Bello expressed confidence in Ododo’s capacity to deliver even more wins for the party in the state.

He assured Kogi indigenes of continuity in the infrastructure renewal master-plan, which he said his administration had begun seven years ago.

Bello argued that the APC in Kogi State was united, adding that the party was well-positioned to produce the next governor with a landslide victory.

Back in his office, the President gave his blessings to the APC candidate, advising the Kogi chapter of the party to run an issue-based campaign to ensure that the party retains power in November.
