A group of Nigerians who claim they were treated unfairly during the Federal Government of Sudan’s evacuation of students have appealed for assistance in leaving the nation of civil war.
This is shown in a video that has been going around online and was sighted by WITHIN NIGERIA on Monday.
Ndi Kato, the former spokesperson for the Labour Party, LP’s Presidential Campaign Council, posted the video.
The voice in the video claimed they were asked to exit the last bus that transported some Nigerians to Egypt after they had already boarded it.
The male voice claimed that he was denied access to the bus due to politics. Therefore, he asked well-known Igbo sons for assistance so they could leave Sudan.
He said: “This appeal goes to Igbos. We are right here in the University of Khartoum in Sudan. They said they are doing evacuation project in which Nigerians are to be evacuated out of Sudan. They came and carried some people and then abandoned us Igbos. We boarded the last bus that moved some Nigerians to Egypt, which left two days ago but we were asked to move out of the bus. Everything is now politics.
“We are pleading with our Igbo people who can help us. Our brother Air Peace who brought Airplane to help evacuate Nigerians might be feeling that everything is moving on fine. Let them know that things are not going fine. See our bags here. This is where we are. Somehow, news has spread that we have been evacuated but that’s not true.
“We plead with people like Prince Arthur Eze, Obi Cubana and all those that can help us out.”
However, a tweet by the chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, indicated that some Nigerians are also stranded in Atbara, Sudan.
Dabiri-Erewa was responding to a plea by a Twitter user @dr-ahmadsamll who called for help on behalf of those in Atbara.
She said the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disasters Management and Social Development is also responsible for evacuating Nigerians in that region.
“The @FMHDSD responsible for the buses are aware and working on the matter,” she tweeted.
She also said that Egypt has opened its border to Nigerians fleeing Sudan. According to her, this was as a result of the intervention of President Muhammadu Buhari.
