Nigerian national, 3 others arrested in India for drug peddling

A Nigerian national identified as Sunday John Ambaze, and three others have been arrested by the police for allegedly selling drugs in Maharashtra’s Mumbai, India.

The police, on Thursday, May 4, 2023, said narcotics seized from the possession of the suspects have an estimated value of Rs 32 lakh in the international market.

The other arrested persons were identified as Suraj Habib Sheikh, Zaheer Wahabuddin Qureshi, and Riyaz Nasir Ali Sayyad.

A case has been registered against them under the NDPS Act after which all of them were sent to police custody till May 6.

Further investigation into the matter is underway.

WITHIN NIGERIA recalls that a 42-year-old Nigerian national, Agbu Chike Anthony, faces a 20-year jail term in India for drug peddling.

According to IndianExpress, the suspect was arrested on a second charge of selling drugs a little over a year after he was nabbed on similar charges by the Bengaluru Central Crime Branch police.
