Police rescue 10 kidnapped victims in Zamfara

Ten persons abducted by bandits terrorising Zamfara state have been rescued, the police in the North West state have said.

This is as the state police command vowed to secure the release of all kidnapped victims and reunite them with their families without paying a dime as ransom.

The newly appointed Police Public Relations Officer in the beleaguered state, ASP Yazid Abubakar, said the police will not relent in its efforts to rid the state of all form of criminalities and atrocities.

He made this known on Thursday in a press statement signed and issued to newsmen in Gusau, the state capital, on behalf of the state Commissioner of Police Mohammed Bunu.

According to the statement, on May 18, 2023, at about 11 pm, 10 people kidnapped from Gidan Gobirawa village in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area were rescued by police tactical operatives on search-and-rescue operations along a forest under Birnin Magaji Local Government Area.

The victims said they had been in captivity since May 7, 2023, when bandits abducted them to an unknown destination.

“The rescued victims were checked by police medical doctors, debriefed, and handed over to their respective families,” the statement affirmed.
