Gov. Aminu Masari of Katsina State has received congratulations from President Muhammadu Buhari as he turns 73 on May 29.
In a message of congratulations sent on Sunday in Abuja by his spokesperson, Mr. Femi Adesina, the president expressed his happiness with the governor, whose two terms in office would come to an end on May 29.
Buhari extended his network of political connections, both inside and outside the nation, to establish a strong foundation for the administration as he hailed the shrewd political figure for the support and loyalty he had received over the previous eight years.
He also praised Masari for making sure he and his team received cordial treatment during state visits, particularly in the first quarter of 2023.
Despite the difficulties with security, the president praised Masari for his outstanding accomplishments in the state.
He particularly saluted the governor for completely changing the face of Katsina city with roads and flyovers that had eased traffic, and upgrading many economic paths to tarred roads, while being mindful of the needs of the three senatorial zones, with priority on security, health and education.
The president appreciated the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, ”whose legacy at the legislature remains indelible, exploring dialogue to deepen democracy and strengthen the unity of lawmakers, from 2003 to 2007.”
He commended Masari for using his vast experience in public service to encourage grassroots inclusion in shaping policies and a sense of ownership for development.
According to the president, Masari’s knowledge, wisdom and maturity will be an asset to the incoming administration and the new set of political leaders, as he has provided visionary leadership at state and national levels and understands the peculiarities of the legislature and executive.
Buhari prayed for good health and strength for Masari and his family and more fruitful years of service to the nation.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Masari, a stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a former Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport, will hand over the mantle of leadership to the governor-elect, Dikko Radda, on Monday.
