Dr. Alex Otti, Governor of Abia State, has ordered the immediate dismissal of all revenue enforcers in the market.
Otti stated in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Kasie Ukoh, that the decision was made to clean up revenue collection systems in the transportation and market sectors.
The statement directed all affected individuals to return any government property they had in their possession to the Special Adviser to the Governor on Internationally Generated Revenue and Digital Transformation.
The statement went on to say that the Special Adviser on Internally Generated Revenue would advise the State government on its next steps in this regard.
In the last one week, the new government in Abia State has been going tough on revenue collectors and touts in the State, a development being supported by transporters and traders.
