Gunmen abduct judge’s wife in Adamawa

Mrs Zainab Abbas, wife of a High Court judge in Yola, Adamawa State, has been abducted by suspected kidnapper.

She was kidnapped at her residence in the Nyinbango area of Jimeta in Yola in the early hours of Wednesday, the police in the North East state disclosed.

According to the State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the time of the abduction was between 1 am and 2 am on Wednesday.

Nguroje, who issued a statement on the incident, assured that the Adamawa State Police Command would do all within its power to rescue the victim.

“The Commissioner of Police, Afolabi Babatola, has deployed operatives drawn from the Crack Squad and Special Rapid Response Team (SRRT) for the rescue mission. The operatives are to carry out tactical and intelligence-driven rescue operation,” Nguroje said.

He added: “These deployments will surely assist in coordinating the timely response to distress calls and to clamp down on those found committing crimes.”

Recall that only two weeks ago, gunmen had abducted two pastors from the same Nyinbango area of Jimeta.

The pastors and one other abductee regained freedom some days later when police operatives, according to the police command, confronted the abductors and overpowered them in a gun battle.
