Samuel Nwanosike, chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area in Rivers State, has banned motorcycles from operating at night in the local government area.
Chris Omodu, the chairman’s press secretary, issued a statement containing the chairman’s directive.
The ban, according to Omodu, is intended to help limit the spread of cult-related activities within the neighbouring Emohua Local Government Area.
The ban, according to the statement, goes into effect immediately and is in effect from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. daily.
He also charged security agencies to execute the order with immediate effect and without compromise.
Emohua LGA has been grappling with insecurity and has, since the 2023 general elections, become a den of criminals.
