- Kogi State Police has imposed vehicular movement restrictions on VIPs, public officials, and political figures, stating that security personnel should not move or escort their principals.
- The statement warned that any officer who is caught violating this order will be arrested and dealt with accordingly.
This Saturday, 1,833,160 voters in Kogi State will cast ballots, and the Nigeria Police Force has prohibited any security staff from accompanying VIPs to voting places.
In a statement released on Friday, Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer SP William Ovye Aya quoted DIG Habu Sani, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police overseeing Kogi State’s governorship election.
Sani stated that no security personnel associated with VIPs, public officials, political figures, or any other personalities in the state should move or escort their principals during the period of vehicular movement restrictions.
The statement warned that any officer who is caught violating this order will be arrested and dealt with accordingly.
“The DIG appeals to VIPs, political and public officers, to note this order so as to avoid any embarrassment that might befall them. The police and other security agencies will not allow any security breach during the period of the election,” the statement added.
