The Independent National Electoral Commission officials who were assigned to different voting places throughout Lokoja are presently stuck at the Ajayi Crowther Memorial School.
The authorities were present to accept voting papers for the state’s governorship elections.
They include members of the corps and other ad hoc employees hired by the commission to handle the election.
Despite having acquired the voting materials, the officials are still stuck because there isn’t a clear way for them to get to all of their polling places.
An official was heard informing others that the only way they could get to their location was if the voters at the polling units arranged transportation for them.
As of the time of filing this report, only three minibuses were on sight to transport over 200 electoral officials.
A total of 1.8 million registered voters are expected to vote in the Saturday off-cycle governorship election in Kogi. The election will be held in 3,508 polling units spread across the 21 Local Government Areas of the state.
The LGAs included Adavi, Ajaokuta, Ankpa, Bassa, Dekina, Ibaji, Idah, Igalamela/Odolu, Ijumu, Kabba-Bunu, Kogi, Lokoja, Mopamuro, Ofu, Ogori-Magongo, Okene, Okehi, Olamaboro, Omala, Yagba-East, and Yagba-West.
