Minister of State for Youth Development, Olawande Ayodele, has urged Nigerian youths to contribute their best to the nation’s progress, emphasizing that the country’s success relies on active involvement in its development.

Addressing participants at the second edition of the Southwest Youth Summit in Abeokuta, Ogun state, the minister stressed that no society can sustain development without the meaningful participation of its youth. Representing the minister, Olamide Lawal, the Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Youths and Sports Development, emphasized the pivotal role of the youthful population in driving the wheels of a nation’s development.

Asserting that Nigeria’s greatest asset is not its oil or natural resources but its teeming and productive youth, the minister urged the youths to contribute to the country’s renewed hope development agenda actively. He highlighted the significance of harnessing the enormous potential of the youth population to boost economic activities and prosperity, emphasizing the need for substantial investments in formal and informal education.

The minister applauded the present administration’s commitment to ensuring that youths play vital roles in progressive frameworks, encouraging them to embrace skills acquisition. He particularly endorsed the upcoming initiative, “One Youth, Two Skills,” by President Bola Tinubu.

Highlighting President Tinubu’s efforts to give Nigerian youths a political voice, the minister acknowledged the significant representation of youths in the federal cabinet and National Assembly. He commended the government’s youth development initiatives, affirming that viable socio-economic policies focused on the youth population are essential for promoting growth and development.

In closing, the minister reiterated the government’s dedication to addressing youth challenges and steering Nigeria towards a path of prosperity, underscoring the importance of youths in achieving good governance.
