Jigawa: Court sends minors to remand home over rape

Two underage convicts have been sent to remand home in Kafin-Hausa, Jigawa state for rape.

A Jigawa State High Court sitting in Birnin-kudu on ordered their remand on Friday.

They were found guilty of conspiring, ambushing, attacking and repeatedly raping one girl in the bush at Girindi-Jaka village of Buji Local government area of the State.

The convicts are Ayuba Alkasim and Sale Muhammad, all of Larabar-Zango town, Ajingi Local government area of Kano State.

The prosecution counsel in the matter, M. A. Fagam brought in 6 witnesses and tendered 4 exhibits, including a medical report to prove his case beyond reasonable doubt.

Another legal practitioner, Huwaila Ibrahim stood in for the Defence Counsel

Presiding Judge, Justice Musa Ubale said the prosecution counsel proved his case beyond reasonable doubt.

He said, “The court having found them guilty for the offence of rape, and seeing that they’re all minors coupled with their plea for leniency, the court orders them to be remanded at the reformatory home Kafin-Hausa on the Mercy of the Governor”
