Alhaji Umar Namadi, the governor of Jigawa State, has announced plans to turn Dutse Airport into a cargo airport in an effort to boost global trade and foster economic expansion.
He claimed that the action is a component of a larger plan to expose the state to international trade prospects.
In Dutse, Namadi disclosed this development and reaffirmed the state government’s resolve to fully utilize the Maigatari livestock market.
According to him, the government is now in talks with foreign investors to modernize the market, which is well-known for its trade in livestock.
According to Hajiya Zainab Ringim, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media Affairs, the state government is collaborating with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, as well as other partners, to develop the Maigatari livestock market.

He stated, “We have our airport here, and we are trying to see how we can convert this airport to a cargo airport, and when that is done, we will see how we can open our livestock market.
“We have a lot of investors who will come and invest in terms of cold rooms, in terms of modern abattoirs and when that is done, we will now open Maigatari livestock market beyond the shores of this country.”
