Prof. Mohammed Sani Haruna, former Executive Chairman/ Chief Executive of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), emphasized the importance of investing in education, urging affluent Nigerians to take proactive steps.

Addressing attendees at the commissioning of a boulevard honouring Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage Muh’d at Havilla University, Nde Ikom in Cross River State, Haruna stressed that an uninformed populace poses a significant risk to national development.

He underscored the interconnectedness of societal well-being, emphasizing that the prosperity and security of one’s family are intertwined with the educational opportunities available to the broader community.

Haruna urged affluent individuals to consider sponsoring the education of not only their own children but also those of their neighbours, recognizing the collective benefit of an educated society.

Highlighting the pressing need for increased investments in education, Haruna noted the strain on public institutions in Nigeria, citing issues of deteriorating infrastructure and outdated equipment.

He called for establishing high-quality educational institutions capable of providing affordable and entrepreneurial-focused education as a societal responsibility.
