According to Turkish sources, Trabzonspor defender Bright Osayi-Samuel has been cleared of any wrongdoing following an altercation with Trabzonspor fans last month.

The incident occurred after a Turkish Super Lig match between Trabzonspor and Fenerbahce, resulting in a 3-2 victory for Fenerbahce. Chaos erupted as Trabzonspor supporters stormed the pitch, sparking a brawl in which Osayi-Samuel was involved.

Initially, Osayi-Samuel and two of his teammates were charged with misconduct by the Turkish Football Federation, facing the prospect of disciplinary action.

However, recent reports from Turkish website A Spor indicate that the 26-year-old has been acquitted of any wrongdoing in the incident.

In addition, Trabzonspor has been handed a six-game ban from playing matches behind closed doors due to the violence that ensued after last month’s match. Fans invaded the pitch and attacked Fenerbahce players and security personnel at Papara Park in Trabzon.

Fenerbahce players Jayden Oosterwolde and Irfan Can Egribayat received one-game bans for their involvement in altercations with rival fans. Trabzonspor has also been fined 3 million Turkish lira (£75,000).

Furthermore, Trabzonspor’s coach, Egemen Korkmaz, has been banned from the dressing room and bench for one match for fighting with a rival player.
