Policeman killed as gunmen invade Nasarawa community, abduct two

Two persons have been kidnapped by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers in Nasarawa State.

The gunmen also killed a police officer during the late Sunday night attack on Wamba local government in the middle belt state.

It’s gathered that the assailants targeted the residence of the Chu Buh, Mr Mondeh Toma Chagga, in Nakere, Wamba LGA.

According to Daily Post, while the traditional ruler escaped death by a whisker, his aide, Kefas Tari Shehu, and Shehu’s wife, Patience Tari, were not as fortunate, as they were abducted and taken to an undisclosed location.

The assailants also made away with the rifle of the slain cop.

A local who is privy to the attack said it took place around 10:30 pm, with men of the Nigerian Military arriving shortly after the gunmen had fled.

The kidnappers have since contacted the victims’ family, demanding N20 million ransom to secure their freedom.

This is not the first time Wamba community has been attacked.

In February, gunmen killed a youth leader, Tari Gbaja, and abducted two other residents, including a businessman, as well as Mrs Tabitha Musa, the wife of Pastor Dauda Musa of the Christ-Elect Revival Mission.

Efforts to reach the police for comment as of press time proved abortive. No official statement has been released at this time
