Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has landed in the United States to participate in a significant symposium organized by the US Institute of Peace.

According to a statement released on Wednesday by Yusuf’s Director-General of Media and Publicity, Malam Sunusi Bature, in Kano, the three-day event will address the issue of insecurity in Northern Nigeria and propose solutions.

The symposium has attracted governors from Kano, Katsina, Zamfara, Kaduna, Niger, Sokoto, Kebbi, Jigawa, and Plateau states.

Bature highlighted that the intensive executive engagement aims to enhance understanding the socioeconomic dynamics of insecurity and explore immediate opportunities to foster stability in Northern Nigeria, particularly in states facing security challenges.

Furthermore, experts from the Institute will share insights on strengthening conflict prevention in the region through non-violent strategies.

Dr. Joseph Sany, the Vice President of the Africa Center at the Institute, will oversee the strategic engagement, focusing on policy coordination and managing peace and stability in Nigeria.

The symposium, scheduled to conclude on April 25, is part of the ongoing efforts of northern governors, particularly those from the northwest, to establish a comprehensive regional development agenda.
