Joe Igbokwe, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has called on President Bola Tinubu to address Nigeria’s recent hike in electricity tariffs. Igbokwe, a vocal supporter of Tinubu, warned that the increased rates could severely impact businesses if not reviewed.
In a post on his Facebook page over the weekend, Igbokwe expressed frustration over the cost of electricity, stating that N20,000 worth of electricity units lasted only one day for his office.
He appealed to the government to reconsider the tariff increase, stating, “PBAT, please look into the new electricity tariff in Nigeria. It will kill businesses if the government does not act quickly. I have a small office in Surulere with about seven air conditioning units. We used to buy over 300 units for N20,000. Yesterday, we purchased N20,000 units worth, and it only lasted one day. They call it Band A group. I pray that we review this.”
Igbokwe’s plea reflects growing concerns among Nigerians about the impact of rising electricity costs on businesses and households nationwide.
