Polytechnic students to Tinubu: Reverse N50 fintech charges

The National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to order the Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS) to reverse the newly introduced electronic levy charged by Fintechs, describing the development as a ‘daylight robbery’.

The Polytechnic students’ body in a statement issued by its Southwest PRO, Comrade Oyewumi Festus on Sunday, 8th of September, 2024 also called for the removal of the Chairman of FIRS, Dr Zacch Adedeji over unfavourable policies implementation.

The statement reads partly: “Some of the Policies of Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS) is becoming unbearable, lack of humanity at heart is becoming order of the day by the Chairman of FIRS.

“This New policy of 50 naira levy on every transaction is a day light Robbery of the masses little resources despite the hardship been face by the citizens of this country, Nigerian Government is borrowing everyday ,FIRS is generating Tax every seconds,where are all these monies as if those money are not enough, another wicked policy is been announced by FIRS to remove 50 naira on each Electronic transfer, this is extortion of poor masses, this is wickedness, must the FIRS Chairman go all out with every means to exhort the masses just for him to Proof that is working, the Leadership of National Association of Polytechnic Students ( NAPS) through the Office of Zonal PRO , Comrade Oyewumi Festus is calling President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to remove Dr Zacch Adedeji the Chairman of FIRS, it seems is out of ideas, President should be aware those he appointed who have evil agenda against his Government and the Citizens of Nigeria.

NAPS, equally appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to halt plan to increase Vat rate to 10%, stressing that it will compound hardship on poor masses.
