Hisbah Rescues 16 Underage Trafficking Victims in Kano

Hisbah

Operatives of Hisbah in Kano State have rescued 16 underage girls from being trafficked at a motor park in Unguwa Uku.

Deputy Commandant Mujahid Aminuddeen Abubakar, speaking on the operation, disclosed that the victims were intercepted at a luxury bus station. They were being transported to Lagos, with plans to move them to Benin Republic and Ghana.

Abubakar explained, “In Ghana, fake passports would have been arranged for the girls before sending them to Arab countries. These girls face a grim fate, including death, prostitution, slavery, or being sold, all of which violate the law.”

He added that all the rescued girls are minors and unaware of the dangers they were being subjected to. The victims include nine from Kano, four from Katsina, two from Jigawa, and one from Borno.

Abubakar urged parents to be more vigilant and resist the temptation to prioritize wealth over their children’s safety.

“Parents must protect their children and reject the lure of trafficking. This act is modern-day slavery, and these girls face unimaginable risks,” he cautioned.
